Happily Ever After: Ruben & Yvonne - Part 3: Party at the Villa [15-1-2011]

I know, I know. I didn't want it to end as well. But as a random wise man once said, "All good things must come to an end." I think it is the same wise man who also told us, "Too much of a good thing is bad" and "So long, and thanks for all the fish."

With the morning's event over and done with (finally, phew!), everyone returned to their respective abodes to rest for the night's events - the wedding dinner itself which was to take place at the Holiday Villa, Subang Jaya. I admit, this was a much easier venue to reach and the place looked pretty decent too.

When I arrived, they were already serving cocktails just outside the dinner hall. The dinner hall itself looked beautiful IMHO. I liked it straightaway. The night's events was kicked off by none other than our lovely Denise Mah and some other dude doing a tag team MC job. Their opening line was repeated in several languages, including Tamil (by Denise of course).

I have to give honorable mention to Holiday Villa for their version of the pre-dinner presentation. The lights were turned off and suddenly, 2 swans, glowing from ultra-violet light started to dance around the stage - complete with glowing hearts, some serious swan love followed by baby swans. To top it off they ended the little show with signs announcing Ruben and Yvonne's nuptials. I must admit I've not seen anything like this before. Totally impressed.

Dinner was smooth and the ambience was wonderful. A couple of expected speeches here and there (Best Man, Bride and Groom, etc.) - with extra-honorable mention to Mr. Enbasegaram, who in his witty speech managed to stamp his mark on most of us. Many wedding speeches are peppered with 'wedding' jokes and quips, and his was no different, except for THE WAY HE SAID ALL OF IT. The earnest blend of honesty, relief and pride could not possibly be imitated by anyone except those who truly felt it ("Ruben is now a grown man, but he hasn't stopped growing..."). Brava Uncle!

A pair of salsa dancers were getting hitched. So what did you think would happen eventually? Monopoly? I don't think so. Try alcohol, music and of course, DANCING! Soon it began: One of the more legendary after-wedding-dinner parties of all time. Even someone as boring as me had fun there. For those of you who could not be there: Here's a little something from me to make you wish you were there...
