Holy Week 2011: Part 1 [April 2011]

We're winding up towards the end of Holy Week now and I've been requested by my dearest and much-loved birth-mother to shoot the climax of it all, starting with the Washing of the Feet on Holy Thursday and ending with the baptisms on Easter Vigil on Saturday night. I accepted this pro-bono job with gusto. After all, my rewards will be in heaven. Plus, come Easter, my mum shall be a Godmother again.... and she made me an offer I could not refuse.

Anyways, I would like to solemnly inform all my viewers that this photoblog is not meant to spread religious awareness. I am far under-qualified for that. Instead, these pictures are meant to document and share with all viewers a tiny portion of what goes on in the lives of Catholics in my blessed life and how we celebrate this glorious Holy Week.

For the uninitiated, one of the hallmarks of Holy Thursday is the washing of the feet. Literally. The Bible tells us that Jesus washed the feet of his disciples to show that if a great man such as he can be so humble as to wash the feet of his followers, so can all of us. Please find below some pictures taken during the 8pm mass on Holy Thursday at the Kristus Aman Chapel, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail [21-4-2011].

On the next day, Good Friday, one of the things that stand out is the Veneration of the Cross. This is where the parishioners pay their respects to the cross upon which Jesus was crucified. This is usually done by kneeling when the cross is brought in and subsequently kissing the foor of the cross. Please find below some pictures taken during the 8pm mass on Good Friday at the Kristus Aman Chapel, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail [22-4-2011].
