Holy Week 2011: Part 2 [April 2011]

Welcome to the Second Part of the Holy Week Series of Dominique Kee Photography and thank you for viewing!

From my last post, we left off after a spirited (har har) Holy Thursday and a solemn Good Friday. We've seen 'disciples' (selected volunteers) who got their feet washed, some of which were overcome by emotion at the spiritual impact of the humility of 'Jesus' (represented by an excellent Father Michael Raymond).

After Holy Thursday, we dove headfirst into the solemn nature of Good Friday - the day Jesus died. Due to some old method of calculating time, Saturday evening is considered as Sunday. In this respect, evening midnight masses / vigils have become quite popular - many preferring to go to mass on Saturday night instead of waking up on Sunday morning. One of the highlights of Easter is the lighting of the Pascal Candle and the numerous baptisms. The reason for many baptisms on Easter relates to the idea that Jesus was resurrected from the dead, which of course signifies new life. Symbolically, the newly baptised Catholics are considered 'reborn' in their 'new life'.

Please find below some pictures taken during the 10.30pm Easter Vigil mass on Saturday at the Kristus Aman Chapel, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail [23-4-2011].
